Currently, Peter is developing a small slate of feature film projects, as an actor, screenwriter, director, producer combined. His next feature film 'The Stolen Sun' is in late development, early pre-production. Peter will be acting as one of the lead characters in 'The Stolen Sun', as well as directing (with this being his feature film directorial debut). Peter is also 'The Stolen Sun' screenwriter & producer.

BIOGRAPHY

Peter was born, raised and educated in Cornwall, United Kingdom. Peter is of Celtic origin...Cornish on his mother's side, Irish London on his father's side. Upon leaving school, Peter moved to Bristol and threw himself into the powerful art scene that Bristol was producing at the time. In his late teens/early twenties, Peter spent three years at the 'Bristol Old Vic Theatre', acting professionally for the 'Bristol Old Vic Company'. Older great actors of note, who trained at the Bristol Old Vic are 'Daniel Day Lewis' and 'Pete Postlethwaite'…both actors have been a huge inspiration to Peter’s work as an actor and filmmaker.

After Bristol, Peter then moved to London, continuing his development as an actor at the 'Royal Central School of Speech and Drama' achieving a BA (Hons) in Acting. Central School has trained many great classical actors over many years, including 'Laurence Olivier' and 'Judi Dench'. Since leaving Central, as an actor, the majority of Peter's work has been in British theatre.

Over the years, Peter has moved more into film work. 'The Fighter’s Ballad' (2012), Peter’s debut feature film as an actor, screenwriter and producer combined, has gone onto receive multiple international indie film awards (including: Best Actor Peter Cadwell... Best Screenplay Peter Cadwell... and Best Feature Film) as well as great reviews internationally.

LATEST NEWS

January 2022:
To give a further idea of Peter's journey as a filmmaker... please see a link below to a recent interview Peter has done for a Russian arts magazine, regarding his work and career so far: "Shakespeare to Dostoevsky" musicfirework.com/2022/01/01/peter-cadwell-from-shakespeare-to-dostoevsky

Note from Peter Cadwell (24th Feb 2022): The depths of my heart goes out to the Ukrainian people and the Russian people. Over the last 6 months, I've spoken with artists in Russia (who've also been working with artists from Ukraine). And those I've spoken with, have been truly good people. We're all human, with hopes and dreams. There is good and bad everywhere. My heart breaks for all the suffering.

Also, please see below, the most recent film review of Peter's previous feature film 'The Fighter’s Ballad', as actor, screenwriter and film producer:

THE FIGHTER'S BALLAD (2012/2021)
"Peter Cadwell first wrote the play 'The Fighter', in which he played the Fighter character in it, and only later adapted the stage production for a feature film 'The Fighter’s Ballad'. The result is a splendid psychological drama in the spirit of Dostoevsky (the giant of classical Russian literature). Only in contrast to the multi-layered and multi-character novels of Fyodor Dostoevsky... in the film, based on the play script by Cadwell, there are actually only two main characters: the Fighter (again, played by Cadwell) and the Priest (played by Clive Russell). The film takes place in a church, where a violent, desperate young man (Fighter) rushes in. You might think that he came to rob the church. No, he came to die. But before that, the Fighter will seek answers to universal questions: life and death, justice and social inequality, salvation and redemption, faith in God and doubt. His interlocutor will be the Priest, who has also experienced great suffering. The storyline keeps the attention all the time. The dark colour scheme in the film helps to focus on the inner feelings of the characters. Cadwell's performance resembles that of another British actor, Daniel Day-Lewis. One gets the feeling that Peter himself lived the life of his character. Cadwell acted as a writer, actor and producer on the film. The film has received and continues to receive awards at various film festivals. Unfortunately, there is no Russian translation of the film yet. But the film is impressive."Julia Kalashnikova - Arts Journalist
